| I can't help but notice you typed .00001" (ten millionth of an inch) ..I think what you meant was .0001" (Tenth of a thousandth of an inch or commonly referred to as a "tenth" by machinists)....or else you would have spent a lot more money ;) Also I noticed you are using a snap gauge for measuring the main bearing bore. The problem with these is that you don't know when the snap gauge is held perpendicular to the bore, so your measurements can be inconsistent or slightly off. The preferred tool is a dial bore gauge because you can zero it to the Outside Micrometer which was used for measuring the crankshaft journal and then 'feel' the bearing bore by looking at the Dial to see when you have the smallest number (perpendicular.) But definitely I agree, take the readings several times to catch any errors.
